Proscar ® (Finasteride)
Proscar ® (Finasteride) prevents the breakdown of testosterone in the body. It is a competitive and specific inhibitor of steroid Type II 5a-reductase, an intracellular enzyme that converts the androgen testosterone into DHT (5a-dihydrotestosterone ). The breakdown of testosterone produces a variety of substances, one of which can lead to benign prostatic hyperplasia.

Proscar ® (Finasteride) is used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate). Finasteride can also be used to reduce hair loss due to male pattern baldness. In general, daily use for three months or more is necessary before results are observed. Continued use is recommended to sustain benefits. Discontinuance of treatment leads to reversal of effect within 1 year.

Dosage:The recommended dosage for Finasteride is 1 mg once a day.
Precautions: Persons with liver disease should not take Proscar ® . Women should not handle this medication if pregnant or planning a pregnancy.
